Mark & Rebecca's New Home

Welcome!

Hopefully I've managed to get this thing working properly. Sorry if the photos aren't the greatest - they were done very rushed as the sellers were around during our very quick visit. And please don't mind the junk; it's theirs! We'll be moving our own junk in soon enough.

New Home Photos

Well, here are the (very bad) photos that we managed to take very quickly on the weekend. The sellers (mom, dad, two baby girls along with two massive dogs and a pair of cats!) were around the whole time, which is why a lot of the shots were rushed or poorly composed.

Thankfully, the blog software only allows photos to be 400 pixels wide, so the small size helps mask a lot of those problems! Yay for technology!

Anyway, on with the pictures.

*******************

The front of the house, with the owner sitting on the front stoop. Once we give the shutters a fresh coat of paint and re-do the roof, it'll look much nicer.

This is the back of the house, taken standing in front of the detached garage. Again, painting the metal awning would help immensely. Also, you can see the second-story balcony from here as well.

The over-sized one-car garage. Very important considering what I manage to fool some people into letting me bring home from work...

This is a shot of the main hall, taken from the kitchen, looking back at the front door. There are two sets of doors on the right-hand side which lead to the living room and dining room respecively. If you look hard enough, you can see the tail of the 'largest cat ever' sticking out of the front door.

The left side of the kitchen, which is split by the back door. Thankfully, we get to keep the appliances.

The right side (with Rebecca)... more cabinets and a nice fridge. You can see the 'other' cat perched on top...

This is the eat-in portion of the L-shaped kitchen. Notice the 'biggest cat ever' lounging on the kitchen table. This thing was seriously the size of a small bear cub - or a Shiba!

Only managed to get one photo of the living room as the owners were perched in there the whole time. We're happy to have a wood-burning fireplace, but the aquarium has to go...

The dining room paint really isn't that violently violet, more a nice deep burgundy.

More dining room. Thankfully, we also get to keep all the window coverings.

This is a view to the backyard/basement stairs, coming out of the kitchen.

Our backyard as seen from the back door. The two dogs have done a number on the grass, but a little work in the Spring should clean that up.

More stairs to the basement...

Basement hallway... The door straight ahead leads to the furnace and the washer/dryer; the door to the left leads to the finished one-bedroom apartment we're going to rent.

Yeesh what a mess... When not full of junk, the basement was only renovated in March, so all the tile and hardwood floor are brand new. The second fridge and stove are included as well. Unfortunately the big-screen television is not.

The rest of the apartment's main area.

The apartment has a separate bedroom, which while jammed full of more junk, is actually quite nice.

More bedroom, more junk.

The apartment's bathroom needs, um... well, it needs a whole lotta help. We'll be ditching the horrible tile as it was installed directly onto the foundation. Big no-no. Drywall and bathroom paint to come.

I'm very impressed this shot even came out ok. It's the very large full-height and width storage area that's right under the front porch - and it doesn't have a (working) light. All on-camera flash, baby!

Ok - back up stairs now, to the stairs leading to the second floor.

More stairs... Nice carpet.

A very, very bad shot of the main bedroom. The paint is actually a nice navy blue.

More of the master bedroom. Still not the right colour.

This is more like it...

Looking out into the hall.

This will be our spare bedroom and junk holder. We'll keep the yellow paint.

More of the spare bedroom.

This will be our office, and will be the only room in the house we paint. Three guesses why...

That door on the left is the one that opens out onto that second-floor balcony/patio that you could see way, way back in photo #2.

The upstairs hall. All of the light fixtures have been recently replaced, and the sellers are leaving them for us.

Completely renovated bathroom with pedastal sink...

...and a deep-soaker Jacuzzi tub. Three guesses to what sold Rebecca on the place...

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a virtual tour of our new house! Questions? Bueller? Bueller?
